What’s New?

Azure Copilot now features the Deployment Agent, a dedicated cloud architecture assistant designed to make planning, configuring, and deploying workloads on Azure more efficient and aligned with best practices. The agent utilizes Azure’s Well-Architected Framework (WAF) to guide users through multi-turn conversations, translating requirements into actionable plans and step-by-step deployment guidance for analytics pipelines, web applications, and multi-tier architectures.

By using the Deployment Agent, technical teams can reduce manual effort, minimize errors, and dramatically shorten the time required to go live with scalable cloud workloads.

How It Works

  1. Access Preview: A global administrator requests preview access from the Azure Copilot admin center. Once approved, the Agent mode toggle becomes available in Azure Copilot chat.
  2. Describe Your Goal: Activate Agent mode in the Azure Portal. Enter requirements using natural language prompts (e.g., “Help me host a Python app on Azure with production-grade best practices”).
  3. Best-Practice Workload Plan: The agent applies Azure’s Well-Architected pillars to generate comprehensive infrastructure plans with rationale and resource selections. Plans are reviewable and adjustable before proceeding.
  4. Code Generation: On approval, modular Terraform templates are generated. These can be opened in VS Code for Web or pushed to a GitHub repository via draft pull requests—enabling collaboration and CI/CD.
  5. Deployment Paths:
    • GitHub: Review code, merge, and trigger CI/CD deployment.
    • VS Code for Web: Edit and deploy from the browser for fast iteration.
  6. Confident Deployments: Every plan and template aligns with Azure Well-Architected best practices for reliable, production-ready cloud infrastructure.
