Overview

The BizTalk Server product team has announced the release of Cumulative Update 7 (CU7) for BizTalk Server 2020. This update brings support for several new Microsoft platforms and consolidates all functional and security fixes released for customer-reported issues.

What’s New in CU7

  • Platform Support:
    • Microsoft Visual Studio 2022
    • Microsoft Windows Server 2022
    • Microsoft SQL Server 2022
    • Microsoft Windows 11
  • All prior fixes: Functional and security patches included

Upgrade Guidance

  • BizTalk Server 2016 is out of support (end-of-life 2027). Upgrading to BizTalk Server 2020 CU6 or CU7 is strongly recommended.
  • Customers running older BizTalk Server versions should consider:
    • Upgrading to BizTalk Server 2020 CU6/CU7 for ongoing support
    • Migrating integration workloads to Azure Logic Apps for modern cloud-based integration

Important Details

  • CU7 is optional unless specifically requiring Visual Studio 2022 support
  • After installing CU7, BizTalk groups must be re-created if already part of a group
